"Buyers Beware" Warns Ross Romano

At what point do we have to say enough is enough when it comes to Premier Kathleen Wynne’s promises and platform? She keeps promising the citizens of Ontario all sorts of free stuff if we vote for her Liberals just one more time.

The problem with the Premier’s plan is that calling everything free is not only a desperate tactic, it’s also fake and misleading. Let’s call a spade a spade, nothing is free, especially not in Kathleen Wynne’s Ontario.

The Premier wants to use your hard-earned tax dollars to buy her way back into voter’s good graces. This is not good governance and you know the truth; publicly-funded does not mean free. We are all paying for Kathleen Wynne’s promises and they come at a hefty cost.
Here’s a tally of just a few ‘gratis’ gifts that our free-talking Premier claims won’t cost you a dollar:  Free child care for kids between the ages of 2.5 and 4 = 2.2 billion dollars per year.  Free prescription drugs for anyone under 25 = 465 million dollars per year.  The ‘supposed’ 17 percent cut in hydro fees = 1.4 billion per year in added interest costs alone.  Free tuition for students in Ontario = 1.3 billion dollars per year.

Does this sound free to you? Almost 5.5 billion dollars in publicly funded promises is coming on the backs of taxpayers. Kathleen Wynne needs to know, and we need to remind her that none of this is free – it’s all taxpayer funded. Saying anything less is deceptive, desperate and wrong.

The McGuinty-Wynne Liberals have been in power for 15 years. If they had any intention to implement these promises, they would have started a long time ago. Instead, they’ve waiting until now, while they are at an all time low in popularity to try to bribe you -the taxpayer- with your own money; and tell you it’s all free. I think it’s time to say enough is enough. I think it’s time for a change.
